my vacation commute.
22 12 2008This morning I woke up in Houston, TX.
By 11 am I was on the runway, taking off for LaGuardia airport, NYC.
A short 2 hours and 40 minutes later my taxi was complete and the airplane parked at the gate.
Having arrived 23 minutes earlier than expected I decided to hop the M60 New York public bus into Manhattan.
Cutting across Queens via the Triboro Bridge.
A few stops later emerged on 125th Street and Lenox where I conveniently grabbed the local 2 train uptown.
Exit train, walk along the snow-covered sidewalks, and voila…
Home.
Just in time for dinner.

EG
18 12 2008With a little begging and pleading I was fortunate enough to attend The Entertainment Gathering conference in Monterey, CA last week.
EG redefines what it really can mean to entertain ideas, in all senses and through endless variations and media.
A $4,000 affair, the conference is a gathering of creative minds, over-achievers and inspirationalists. (is that a word?) It was a blend of technologists, writers, photographers, magicians, singers, producers… and people living a life somewhere in between – like me.
I paid my way by helping to live-blog the event. What does that mean? Well, we literally transcribed, to the best of our abilities, the speakers – so that those who were not in attendance could see, read and listen to, in a small way, the knowledge gifted to attendees.
EG created by Richard Saul Wurman, founder of the TED conferences, and produced and curated by Michael Hawley.
