Quote of the Day: Woman

23 01 2009

Thanks Aihui for sharing this with me :)

“Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart.

She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.

So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.”

Social Bookmarking & Twitter in plain English…

21 01 2009

I found this a while back and fell in love with this video. It is clever and explains social bookmarking in such a smart, simple, visual way.

But then I found this on my friend’s blog – which is awesome because I’d been delaying my ‘Twitter post’ (everyone has a Twitter post, just never got around to transferring mine from scraps of napkins).

So for my non-tech friend’s here’s an explanation for you – so we can stop talking about it at dinner :)

happiness

16 01 2009

versus contentment.

let me start by writing that this is something i’ve debated on with friends for years. and this ramble probably only makes sense to those understanding few.

if life is a series of peaks and troughs then happiness is the emotion at the top. hard to reach, least amount of surface area, and therefore somewhat fleeting. the bulk of time is spent trying to reach it and then descending from it.

versus contentment, which could be a long-standing state of being.
but being content, it’s like settling on an emotion.

dictionary.com defines the noun as:
the state of being contented; satisfaction; ease of mind.

satisfaction? like, oh, everything is great, things are ok, life is good… i’m content…like the feeling after thanksgiving turkey. relatively easy to achieve with the right perspective.

but happiness, that’s like the first bite of godiva chocolate souffle from morton’s steak house… sweet, smooth, and gone too fast.

well tonight, i felt an epiphany: i’m happy. i’m in a state of happiness.

maybe life is a series of peaks and troughs, or maybe it’s a series of peaks that just plateau every now and then to give you time to enjoy the view.

TweetDeck groups function

13 01 2009

Ok, I really like the TweetDeck groups function but group set up is inefficient when you have to scroll and click to add through thousands of followers.

Did some digging to check that there wasn’t an updated solution I’m missing and found – http://www.twitip.com/tweetdeck-review/
Dated 11/18/2008, it was the most recent review.

Someone suggested this:

tweetdeck_groups-request

and it’s #5 in the queue of requests.

I’d vote on it too except it’s making me log in via a UserVoice account and right now – that’s too much effort (been playing around with social media sites all day).

So I’m writing this post because I couldn’t say all this in less than 140 characters but know TwitterFeed will crawl my blog and get a URL up to share soon.

Ah, the beauty automating your social media…

My point? Oh yes, so if anyone has a good (secret) recommendation for creating groups on TweetDeck, please let me know.

Or please go vote for the drag & drop feature so we can all make use of it…
