me on ReadWriteWeb…

14 05 2009

ReadWriteWeb is an established web industry publication / blog  and they just released premium reports for businesses.

I was asked to be an early reviewer and got quoted in the report and in their announcement. Very cool.

guideimage It’s hard not to get excited about this when I know how excited editor Marshall Kirkpatrick is about this launch!

And the reality is that there is so much interest in community-building for businesses that it’s the right time for this type of report to surface.

The first 75 pages are a collection of case studies and testimonials – and as Sameer Patel (Pretzel Logic) wrote in his blog post, one can struggle “with the idea of buying a premium report that was largely peppered with quotes from articles that I’ve read before…” but what Marshall has provided is an in-depth and intelligent collection of the most salient, relevant and helpful quotes – scoured from across the interwebs, and from those at the forefront of community management.

You can download a free sample section of the report here.

TweetDeck groups function

13 01 2009

Ok, I really like the TweetDeck groups function but group set up is inefficient when you have to scroll and click to add through thousands of followers.

Did some digging to check that there wasn’t an updated solution I’m missing and found – http://www.twitip.com/tweetdeck-review/
Dated 11/18/2008, it was the most recent review.

Someone suggested this:

tweetdeck_groups-request

and it’s #5 in the queue of requests.

I’d vote on it too except it’s making me log in via a UserVoice account and right now – that’s too much effort (been playing around with social media sites all day).

So I’m writing this post because I couldn’t say all this in less than 140 characters but know TwitterFeed will crawl my blog and get a URL up to share soon.

Ah, the beauty automating your social media…

My point? Oh yes, so if anyone has a good (secret) recommendation for creating groups on TweetDeck, please let me know.

Or please go vote for the drag & drop feature so we can all make use of it…

my vacation commute.

22 12 2008

This morning I woke up in Houston, TX.
By 11 am I was on the runway, taking off for LaGuardia airport, NYC.
A short 2 hours and 40 minutes later my taxi was complete and the airplane parked at the gate.
Having arrived 23 minutes earlier than expected I decided to hop the M60 New York public bus into Manhattan.
Cutting across Queens via the Triboro Bridge.
A few stops later emerged on 125th Street and Lenox where I conveniently grabbed the local 2 train uptown.
Exit train, walk along the snow-covered sidewalks, and voila…
Home.
Just in time for dinner.
